Indian Granite Industry


The Indian Granite Industry has become the 3rd largest foreign exchange earner among minerals (Mineral Exports account of approx 20% of total exports) from India. As per the information furnished by the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), the export of granite and products thereof during the year 2001-02 stood at INR 1,874 Crores. Even before India has been acclaimed as the leader in software services and now an emerging leader for engineering and automobile goods, the Indian Granite Industry has carved a niche for itself amongst all the leading markets around the world.



Indian Granite Varieties such as pure black, tan brown, white galaxy, blue from Visakhapatnam and grey from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh were used Extensively in construction, according to industry sources.
